I Go With Custer (SC)

This book chronicles the full story about Mark Kellogg, the first reporter to die in combat in a United States Battle. With what's going on today in the world, this is a grim reminder how history repeats itself. Also a good reminder of the risks journalists take while attempting to make the truth known to the public.

Sandy Barnard, a journalist and non-fiction writer for more than 29 years, has specialized on the Civil War and the Plains Indians engagements of the post-war period. He is well known for his research and writing on the Battle of the Little Bighorn, Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer and the men of the 7th U.S. Cavalry who served with him or followed him. Barnard is especially recognized for his expertise on reporter Mark H. Kellogg, who was killed with Custer at the Little Bighorn, and on First Sgt. John Ryan, a prominent battle survivor.
